Director

In early 2007, we convinced American to launch AAdvantage Milestones. The idea was simple. Convince AAdvantage members – all 50 million – to see the world. To get that done, we thought it made sense to actually show the world. So we shot on-location using a four-man crew. I was fortunate enough to direct these videos. It was hard work in the best way possible. Enjoy...

“Roman Holiday”

Shot in May 2007 and starring Comedy Central’s Regan Burns. We had a script but mostly made stuff up on the spot. Literally. We’d improv for five minutes then I’d yell “action.” Great fun. Until we got chased out of the Forum by the military police. True story.

“Paradise Found”

Oahu. Summer of 2007. We shot twelve hours a day. It was hot, physical (lots of hiking) and absolutely fabulous. The water joke was Regan’s idea. A production assistant was off-camera with a giant bucket. Good times.

“London Lowdown”

Also shot in May 2007. It was rainy and cold the whole time. Also we were plagued by construction. Jackhammers everywhere. That is one LOUD city.

“View from the Top”

Rio. February 2008. Changed of tone, at American’s request. More serious, less funny. Hired a new host, the uber-talented Reece Rios. He’s a natural.

“Beijing”

We were there in April 08, a few months before the Olympics. Beijing is massive, just goes and goes. The people were friendly, the food was fascinating, the air was filthy.

“Eating a Scorpion”

The DongHuaMen night market serves everything from starfish to scorpion. I asked Reece if he’d be willing to sample the local fare. His reply, “sometimes you have to sacrifice for your art.” Indeed.
